Renat’s mom 👩
Hi, I’m Julia
I’m Renat’s mom. Almost three years ago our whole family — five of us and a pug — moved to Uruguay. Before that came Mariupol, the war and two years in Switzerland.
Everything Renat writes about, we’ve been through it: apostilled certificates, queues at Migración, finding a home, buying land and building a house. I know how scary it is to be in a foreign country with no one to ask. That’s why I now help those who come next.
🗣️ I speak Russian, Ukrainian, English and Spanish — at Migración, the notary or school, I’ll interpret myself.

What I help with
Ukrainian documents with apostilles — remotely
I work remotely with an apostille bureau in Ukraine. Birth and marriage certificates, criminal record certificates and other documents can be ordered without travelling to Ukraine — apostilled and delivered to any country in the world. To Uruguay, even to my address: I’ll receive them and hand them to you in person.
Migración and residency
I’ll book your Migración appointment and help gather and prepare the full set of documents for your residency application in Uruguay — so you don’t make extra trips to Montevideo.
Cédula
I’ll book your DNIC appointment for your first cédula, and for the second one once your residency is granted.
Registro Civil
I’ll get you a Registro Civil appointment and help you file your documents there correctly.
School for your kids
I’ll help choose a school and enrol your children. Ours started at a Uruguayan school with almost no Spanish — I know how to get through it.
Housing
I’ll find a place to live in Piriápolis, Punta del Este and Maldonado — short-term or long-term. I remember our own first nights searching for somewhere to sleep with a dog.
Buying land
We’ve been through it all: about 30 plots, the deal at the notary, the surveyor, UTE electricity, OSE water, the project and BPS. I’ll tell you what to check, which areas to avoid, and come to viewings with you.
And everything else
Carné de salud, choosing a clinic, bank, notary, doctor, SIM card, the first weeks — I’ll come with you and interpret.
Write any time — I answer myself, and quickly. And I don’t disappear after the consultation: if a question comes up six months later, I’m here.
How we got here
- Mariupol Our home in Mariupol was completely destroyed. We left to escape the war.
- Two years in Switzerland Via Budapest we reached Switzerland: temporary protection, school for the kids and a constant feeling of being guests.
- Why Uruguay We compared Europe, the Balkans, Georgia, Asia and Argentina. We chose Uruguay: residency is realistic here, and you can put down roots in peace.
- The move Zurich — Buenos Aires — ferry to Uruguay. The first nights with nowhere to stay, then a flat in Piriápolis.
- Residency Apostilled documents, translations by a Traductor Público, the carné de salud, trips to Montevideo — and residency.
- Our own house We bought 1,000 m² five kilometres from Piriápolis and are building a house. We moved into it unfinished and got through our first winter there.
