This is our story about papers before the move. Not a list of “what everyone needs”. There were five of us.
We lived in Switzerland, they asked for papers from Ukraine
We had lived in Switzerland for two years. When we decided to go to Uruguay it turned out: we needed a pile of documents from Ukraine. That was the problem right away. Gathering it ourselves from there was hard.

How friends helped
Good friends helped. They gave a contact who handles apostilled documents in Ukraine. He collected everything, apostilled it and mailed it to Switzerland. Much easier for us.
For five people it was about $700. I don’t remember exactly. In a month it was all ready and sent. Tickets were already bought — we were short on time.
Criminal records from Switzerland
Ukraine wasn’t enough. In Switzerland we also took criminal-record certificates. DNM rule: from countries where an adult lived more than 6 months in the last 5 years. That’s how it went for us. We did it.
What next
Soon we flew to Uruguay and filed everything at Migración. Without those papers we wouldn’t have filed calmly. If your story is similar: budget time, apostille and mail. Don’t leave it to the last day. Don’t copy someone else’s list one-to-one — everyone’s different.
